I can not tell you how proud I am of this guy. He got hired on with the Alpine Fire Department mid season. And now he has been offered another job with the Laguna Hotshot Fire Department. Because, he was hired mid season, when he showed up for his first day of work, his squad was in New Mexico fighting a fire. So he got sent to work for a day at the Descanso fire Department. But, when he showed up he was told that the the Laguna Hotshot Fire Department had one of their fire fighters get injured so they needed someone to fill in, so they sent my brother out. The Captain told him don't get too excited you are just filling in. Well, Josh showed up, and was asked again to show up the next day. After day two he was offered a place on the Hotshot squad. This is so amazing. No one makes the Hotshots their first time out. They pride themselves in being very good, and extreme! And my brother impressed the Captain so much that they offered him a job on the spot. I am not allowed to talk about what he did, because he is way too humble, but let me tell you he rocked it. And I am soooo proud. So in a couple of weeks my brother will be an official hotshot. And he is on his way to his next goal. He wants to be a smoke jumper. The Captain on the hotshot squad said physically he would pass the test but he just needs some more experience. He thinks he will be ready in five years. He thinks the hotshots will be a perfect fit for him, because they have already had five fire fighters from their squad go on to be smoke jumpers. He is so excited. I love talking to him, because one he is my brother, but it is also so nice to hear how happy is. He loves what he does for a living, and that makes me so happy. So, as scary as I think a smoke jumper will be, I am so happy that he will be doing what he loves to do.
He may now be a Hotshot, but this is what his personality is really like. Just a really nice guy. Love you Josh, don't get mad at me for boasting about you. I can't help it I am too proud.
Wonderful news! Your family is so blessed Marissa, very happy for all of you.
