Officially Six Years Old

Can you believe she is six?  Yup my first born is six. I have had this sweet little girl in life for six years.  I have to pinch myself to just believe it.  We celebrated Ariana's birthday two weekends ago.  We just had our little family party.  One of these years I will have to do a friend party.  But she hasn't complained yet about not having a friend party.  Can you tell I feel guilty?  I do! For some reason I feel like a slacker mom, who hasn't been able to throw her daughter a great party.  The only thing that subsides my guilt is that she always tell us that she loved her birthday.  And that it was the best birthday ever!

I tried to make her horse cupcakes because that's what she is into right now.  They turned out to look more like giraffes.  Well in Ariana's words, "You made me giraffes!"

Viggo has been dancing a lot lately.  When David started to cut the cake he went into a celebratory birthday cake dance.

"The Giraffes"

This cake was DELICIOUS!! I think I gained all my pregnancy weight back, because I could not stop eating this.  Recipe from the LITTLE RED HOUSE

When she is really happy she just jumps on you out of nowhere and give you a big squeeze.  They are the best hugs and scariest ones too, because sometimes they catch you off guard and you almost tip over.  Hence why David is holding himself up with his other hand.

She loves ice cream, so we got her a DQ ice cream maker.  She keeps telling me she is going to open up an ice cream stand and charge people $50.00.  That way she can pay tithing and still feel like she has money left over.  Sometimes I would pay money to just hear her thoughts.

I forgot to warn her that the giraffe heads were made of peanuts.  She took a bite of the head and went straight for a bite of the cup cake.  She realized very quickly she was chewing on a hard peanut shell.

6 Years Old

- You love to read and are very good at it.
- You adore Micah.  He can do no wrong.
- You love learning about the gospel.
- You have a strong opinion (sassy).  I don't always appreciate it, but I have to remind myself that I am glad you are your own person, and are not influenced easily by others.  It should come in handy in your future.
-You love your alone time with me.  You get extra happy and snugly.  I soak every minute of it up, because you are already six and counting.  I want as many snuggles as I can fit in.
- You and Viggo are very competitive with each other.  But always route for one another as well.  He gets you to do things I think you never imagined you would do on your own.  Watching him do a handstand flip gave you the courage and drive to do one yourself.
- You love going out to eat, and shopping.
- You live for desert.  Desert can get you to do anything.
- You are a big help.  When Micah cries you are the first to see what he needs.
- You are a Daddy's girl. You will do anything to make your Dad proud.  You love soccer, but I think you just love the time you get with him too.  And you soak up all the attention you are getting from him with Capoiera.  You are on cloud nine when get Daddy all to yourself.  And he lights up to see you happy.  I don't know how he is going to be able to share you one day?
You just make us all so happy.  We love hearing your stories, seeing your expressions when you talk ( you have many.)  And we love the energy you bring into our home.  You have such a sweet spirit.  You make me want to be a better person, mother, and wife.
You are my world little one.

Happy 6th Birthday!

Happy it's Saturday

David made me french toast this morning. ( Yes, a result of being a naggy and upset wife yesterday..... but I will upset the peace offering with no complaints.  Who says being naggy doesn't get results.)  Our little boy kept reaching for my fork.  I finally let him take it to see what he would do.  He got the fork into his mouth first time.  He does not mess with food.  David then said, "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, feed for a lifetime."  I could not stop laughing.  I mean just look at that face he is so happy. ( And no worries people I took the fork away and replaced it with a spoon soon after. )

(The Peace Offering)

Yup feed me strawberries and fruit next to bread, and you got one happy woman.
Happy Saturday!!

I Know That Look

Recently Ariana has started Capoeira.  It is a Brazilian style of Martial Arts.  Its requires so much strength but they make it look so easy, because at times it looks and feels like a dance.  I can't even begin to describe it, you tube has some cool videos.  It's really beautiful to watch. Ariana has been going for a couple of weeks and she is loving it.  David and I were so excited that she wanted to do it, but we never foresaw how much she was going to enjoy it.   I think its because she is always constantly challenging her fear and when she over comes it, she is just smiling ear to ear.  She was really afraid at first to go into a handstand, and much less hold the handstand and then flip over.  But she is really starting to get it.  Its been also fun watching her little brother Viggo get in on the action.  He is just a natural. He does back to back handstand flips like nothing. And now he starting to just hold the handstand.  His balance is unreal.  I'll have to get a pic up of him doing it soon.

I caught the picture above randomly and I can't get over this look.  Its the look she always gets when she is determined to do something. I can remember this look back when she was trying to walk.  Sometimes I think nothing in this life is going to get in this girls way.  She has such determination.  David laughs because he says its the same look I get before I get competitive.  The other day she kept falling over and she started to sound agitated, and I told her it was okay for her to take a break, and just relax.  That with time and practice it would come.  She looked up at me and said, "mom that's just what I have to do to make myself to do it."  I laughed so hard, of course she has to make herself mad to get over her fears.  I wonder where she learned that........

See her way in the back?  It's so cute to see her doing it with adults.  At first I thought she would find it uncomfortable but she loves it. And she has one other friend in the class.  She can stay in synch with them for like one rotation.

They play this along with the Capoeira music.  It's pretty cool when the group is completely synchronized to the music.  Micah loves the music.

A Photographer with no Pictures of Her Own

This is embarrassing but I can't remember the last time I printed out my own pictures?  Okay, I am lying I can.  It was when I first got my first dslr camera, and I printed out our first trip to Disneyland.  I think that was three years ago now.  Sad, right? I think having this blog just allowed me to fool myself into thinking my pictures were not all trapped inside of a memory card.

So I finally did it! I printed them out and tried to decorate my home all cute.  Its fun getting to look at my wall and getting to see my work.  Two are from Lillie, from my sister in laws wedding.  I love her work! Lillie B. Photography, look her up! She is worth every penny.  I can still remember how for years I wanted to just take the plunge and try to shoot gorgeous pictures. I read books and magazines and blogs on it for years, but hesitated to take the next step, which was to open up my wallet  and buy the expensive equipment.

(Which by the way was a sacrafice for our family.  We are a family that survives off of one income, and hubby who was working and going to school. So thank you David!)

Back to my story...... I kept thinking what if I spend all this money and I am horrible at it? What if, what if, what if?  And watching her at the wedding just made me think why not? What is the worse thing that can happen?  That I may never learn to shoot off of the automatic setting?  At least I will be able to let my children move around, without having fear of getting a blurry shot every time.  Anyways I digress.   I am so happy that I took the plunge.  It makes me happy to be surrounded with pictures of my beautiful little family. And I simply have so much fun doing it! It brings me a lot of joy.

This is the den/playroom across from our living room.  I love this room!! And I love that I got to put up the kids caricature drawing of them as the Avengers.  Ariana is the Black Widow, Viggo is the Hulk, and little Micah was drawn as Captain America.

I love my boys.  They are so good to me already.  Viggo always worries about me when we cross the street to pick up Ariana from the school bus.  If he sees a car coming he is always telling me to hurry and get close to him so he can protect me.  Today he was so proud of himself because he found a baby scorpian in our home.  Yeah I know!! Freaked me out! Luckily David was still home and he killed it.  We thanked Viggo for telling us, and that because he told us he helped us not to get stung by the scorpion.  We explained that he especially helped his little brother Micah who is crawling around like a champ.  Viggo has been walking around the home like a super hero that saved the day.  How did I get so lucky to feel so much love in my home!

Tada! I have family pictures up in my own home.  No longer am I a photographer with no pictures of my own.

Capoeira and Pizza kinda Weekend

We signed Ariana up for Capoeira like two weeks ago.  It's a Brazilian style of martial arts.  If you haven't seen it you must! There are some cool videos on you tube.  It such a rhythmical form of martial arts.  They play music and you move around with such grace and finesse.  She has gone to three classes and already she is doing such cool things.  Her and Viggo can do hand stand flips, and Viggo is starting to be able to hold the hand stand.  David and I think its so cool that she is doing it.  We are very proud.  We haven't signed Viggo up because his attention only lasts about 30 minutes.  But he is made for Capoeira. Every Saturday Viggo comes home and tries doing everything he saw the instructor do, and he does it with no fear. ( Daddy joins in too)  Needless to say I am love with watching my kids do this.

I need to take my camera in one of these Saturdays and take some cool pictures.  But having two boys makes it hard to lug around my fourth baby.  David found a groupon for a pizza place in downtown Tucson.  The pizza was HUGE! And the kids got to drink soda.  We don't buy the stuff so when they get it they are so happy.  I am sure the pictures speak for themselves.

Nothing crazy but still had so much fun this weekend!

Six Months and Counting

It's strange to think that when I reached six months in my pregnancy I felt like I had been pregnant for like ever.  Yet here he is six months and counting and I feel like we have gotten to this point in a blink of an eye.  We love you Micah.  Month six and we still can't get enough of you.
